Anna Vissi gave an exclusive interview (actually her first after two years) to DownTown magazine and talked,amongst other things, for her highly expected comeback, the break off with Karvelas, her recent appearance in James Blunt concert in Cyprus and her participation in the 51st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, in Athens.

She's still out of the business, two years after Eurovision. Why? "I got tired with so much work, especially with Eurovision. I did a lot of things in a small period of time and lost control. Instead of me having control over it, I was driven by work. Eurovision was very tiring. I can't say if it was or wasn't correct that I did it, I do know though that what I lived that night was too important for me. It hurts me when I don't sing, but I had to stop for some time". Her comeback will be marked by two releases, "one in Greek and one international which will be released later on. Patrick R. Leonard is one of the composers for the international album, famous from his collaboration with Madonna (he wrote Frozen and Like a prayer) and whom I'm very happy to be working with". Being asked for her Greek album, she only said that two important lyricists are writing for her, Mirto Kontova and Eleanna Vrahali. "As for the composers... let this be a surprise. I have listened more than 600 songs, I'm in a studio from morning to night and I feel that I'm living a very special period of my life. I'm not doing an album with a Diva attitude - it feels the same as when I was 18 and I was searching for songs I liked. I'm seeking new sounds, something that only new people can give". The next question has to do with Nicos Carvelas, her life time composer and partner (at least until Eurovision): "We did so many things together, we made history, but I think we got tired of each other. It's not a break off, it's just a pause. I hope that we may work together in the future".

Her appearance in Blunt's concert in Cyprus, last week, was by coincidence. "We met in Greece and had lunch together. I like him as a singer. He told me that he was having a concert in Cyprus, the day after, and so I told him that since it couldn't be possible to see him in Greece, I'd go to Cyprus and watch his concert. He asked me to sing with him "1973" - I like that song because it's symbolic. for me; I left Cyprus to start my career in Greece in 1973, full of hopes and dreams. We only did one rehearsal. It was a magic moment. He texted me the same night: "Thank you very much,I had a great time, being with you on stage".
