FOR THE ENGLISH SPEAKING FANS

In the latest issue of "Hello" magazine there is an article about Anna Vissis's legal problems and a short interview in which she is talking about how upset and violated she felt when people entered her house in the suburb of Ekali and removed her cloths, as well as electrical appliances, paintings and firniture. She deplores the whole incident, she maintains that she fulfilled all her obligations towards the Polyvideo Production company and both court decisions (low court and court of appeals) are unfair. She is appealing the case once again to the Supreme Court (Areios Pagos). The appeal is scheduled for March of 2008 but because of the mishandling of the whole case by the initial defense attorneys, and the mispresentation of facts during the first two trials, Anna Vissi and her new legal team are seriously considering the re-opening the case. They may ask to have the whole case tried once again, the way it was supposed to have been tried initially.

The whole thing started in 1994, the year that private television channels were allowed to broadcast in Greece. Needing to compete against Mega Channel's number one show with Roula Koromila, Antenna TV hired Polyvideo to produce a similar show (based on the popular Italian variety programs). Who was big enough to compete against Roula Koromila's super hit? Anna Vissi, of course. The Polyvideo production company signed up Anna for the job. They maintain that she was supposed to film forty episodes, she counter argues that the contract talked about ten shows initially. Once she fulfilled the ten show obligation, she departed.

According to Anna Vissi the whole contract was poorly written and both her and Nikos Karvels were grossly misrepresented. The production company thinks that with her departure Anna Vissi left them without a show and in debt.

The reason remains elsewhere. No matter how big of a star Anna is, she was unable to beat Roula Koromila. The Antenna show was cancelled and was replaced by a movie.

In cases like that it is very difficult to judge who is right or who is wrong. To make things short, the courts have decided that the production company is right and Anna Vissi has been asked to pay damages. After the appeal, Polyvideo got access to Vissi's bank accounts and one morning a representative of the court, with a an act of court in hand obliged Anna Vissi's maid to open the door and removed cloths and different items (to be auctionned in January 2008). Anna Vissi maintains that the value of her dresses and stage costumes exceeds the amount of 4,000.000.00 Euros.

By the time the above happened, Anna's house had already been tranferred to somebody else, as well as her Porsche Carrera. Anna is determined to fight for her reputation. This time the person in charge is her life companion Christos Psomopoulos who is fully invested in the case and who leads the legal effort.

Anna Vissi cannot reveal more but she maintains that her absence from the Greek musical scene is not related to this unfortunate event and that she may perform again in Athens and Thessaliniki in the late spring and early summer.

I HOPE THAT WAS WHAT YOU ASKED FOR.
